Privacy Policy for ActionPilot

Introduction

ActionPilot ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a privacy-first browser extension that helps you organize your online activities by suggesting smart actions based on webpage content. This Privacy Policy explains how ActionPilot handles your data.

Information We Collect

1. Information Stored Locally (On Your Device Only)

The following data is stored in your browser's local storage and never transmitted to our servers:

User Settings

• AI provider preferences (OpenAI, local analysis)
• OpenAI API key (if you provide one - encrypted by Chrome)
• Notification preferences
• Calendar preferences
• Form autofill information (name, email, address - optional)

Saved Items (Only What You Explicitly Save)

• Reminders: Title, date, time, notes, category, source page URL
• Saved Pages: Page title, URL, description, category
• Tracked Prices: Product name, URL, price, retailer, price history
• Bookings: Business name, date, time, confirmation details (Let Me Call feature)

Usage Counters

• Number of pages analyzed this month (for free tier limits)
• Number of tracked prices
• Number of saved items

2. Information Processed But Not Stored

When you analyze a webpage:

• Page content is processed locally to extract structured data (prices, dates, etc.)
• This content is NOT stored unless you explicitly save an item
• This content is NOT transmitted to our servers

3. Optional: AI Analysis Data

If you enable AI-powered analysis and provide your own OpenAI API key:

• Page content summaries may be sent to OpenAI's API for intelligent analysis
• You control when AI analysis happens (not automatic)
• OpenAI's privacy policy applies to data sent to their API: OpenAI Privacy Policy
• We do not have access to your OpenAI API key or your OpenAI account data

4. Information We Do NOT Collect

ActionPilot does NOT collect, store, or transmit:

• ❌ Your browsing history
• ❌ Full webpage content (except what you explicitly save)
• ❌ Form inputs or passwords
• ❌ Credit card numbers or financial account information
• ❌ Social Security numbers or government IDs
• ❌ Health information
• ❌ Location data (beyond what you manually enter for bookings)
• ❌ Analytics or telemetry about your usage
• ❌ IP addresses
• ❌ Device identifiers

How We Use Your Information

Local Processing Only

• Analyze webpage content to suggest relevant actions
• Auto-categorize saved items (shopping, bills, travel)
• Schedule reminder notifications
• Track product price changes
• Autofill forms with your saved information

All Processing Happens:

• ✅ On your device (in the browser)
• ✅ Using your local computing resources
• ✅ Without network transmission (except optional OpenAI API calls you initiate)

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We Do Not Share Your Data

ActionPilot does not share, sell, rent, or transmit your data to any third parties.

Third-Party Services You May Optionally Use

OpenAI API (Optional)

• If you provide your own OpenAI API key and enable AI analysis
• Page content summaries are sent to OpenAI for processing
• Governed by OpenAI's privacy policy and terms
• You can disable this feature at any time

Data Storage and Security

Chrome's Encrypted Storage

• All local data is stored using Chrome's chrome.storage API
• Chrome automatically encrypts this storage
• Data is isolated per-user and per-Chrome profile
• Data is cleared when you uninstall the extension

API Key Security

• Your OpenAI API key (if provided) is stored encrypted by Chrome
• Never transmitted to our servers
• Only used for direct communication with OpenAI's API

Sensitive Site Protection

ActionPilot automatically blocks analysis on sensitive websites:

• Banking and financial institutions
• Healthcare and medical sites
• Government and tax websites
• Authentication and login pages

Your Rights and Controls

You Control Your Data

• Delete anytime: Clear all data from extension settings
• Export data: Download your reminders and saved items as JSON
• Disable AI: Turn off OpenAI integration at any time
• Revoke permissions: Remove site access in Chrome settings
• Uninstall: Removes all local data immediately

Browser Permissions

ActionPilot requests these Chrome permissions:

• activeTab: Read current page content only when you click the extension icon
• storage: Save your settings and reminders locally
• alarms: Schedule reminder notifications
• notifications: Show reminder alerts
• scripting: Display the extension's user interface on pages
• optional_host_permissions: Enable always-on analysis for specific sites you approve

Children's Privacy

ActionPilot is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in this document with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Data Retention

• Local data: Retained until you delete it or uninstall the extension
• Temporary analysis: Page content analyzed in memory is discarded after analysis
• No server-side data: We don't operate servers that store your data
